Home Grown PC's

While we are capable of building new computers with Windows Vista installed, Home Grown PC strongly recommends using Windows XP for the time being.  Not only is Windows XP faster than Vista, it is also more stable and will require far less computing power for the same performance.  Hopefully, Microsoft will work out most of the bugs in Windows Vista by the end of the year, making it a more reasonable upgrade.  Until then, we recommend using Windows XP.  However, we will build systems with Windows Vista installed if you desire.

Important information about Home Grown PC's:

1. All Home Grown PC's that I design use only high quality parts.
   -All parts that I choose will have a minimum 1 year warranty.
   -You may choose your own parts, but I may choose not to warranty them if they are of sub-standard quality.
    

2. The price you are quoted is the final price.
   -The price you are quoted includes the price of parts, shipping, labor, and all sales taxes.
   -There is no markup on the price of parts by Home Grown PC Repair.
   -There are no additional sales taxes because all parts are purchased retail.
   -All profit for Home Grown PC Repair comes from charging for labor to assemble and configure the new system, and there is no VA sales tax on labor charges.
    

3. All Home Grown PC's come with a one year parts and labor warranty.
   -All parts chosen by Home Grown PC Repair include a one year manufacturer's warranty.
   -The labor warranty is provided for one (1) year by Home Grown PC Repair at no additional cost.
   -Two (2) or three (3) year labor warranties may be purchased from Home Grown PC Repair at the time of system purchase.

4. I can build systems with both Intel and AMD processors.
   -Both AMD and Intel make excellent processors.  However, at this point, the Intel Core 2 Duo has proven to outperform most of the AMD processors.  This may change in the next few months as AMD releases their next line of processors.
    

5. Home Grown PC's will NOT come loaded with tons of junk programs.
   -Many PC's now come preloaded with "thousands of dollars" worth of software, or so they want you to believe.
     -Most of this software is unnecessary and just slows down your PC.
     -Some of the programs are "trial" versions which are trying to sell you the full version.
     -Almost all of the programs are "OEM" versions which come with no manual or support, and they do not cost as much as the retail versions, which are the prices that are quoted to you.
   
   -The software I provide will fit in three categories:
        1. Security (Antivirus, Antispyware, Firewall)
        2. Utilities (CD-Burning Software, Adobe Reader, Web Browser, E-mail Software)
        3. Productivity (Word Processing, Mapping, Photo Editing)
   
   -Many of these programs are free, but they are full versions, not trial editions.
   -If you would like other software installed, I can purchase it for you at a discounted price and install it when I build the system.
