About Us

My name is Derrick Gingerich, and I live in Stuarts Draft, VA with my wife, Kathy, and my son, Jayson.  We have lived in the Brookmill subdivision for more than 6 years now.  Both Kathy and I grew up right here in the Waynesboro/Stuarts Draft area, and we're very happy to be raising our son here as well.

A little over 7 years ago, I began repairing computers in my spare time while working full-time at McKee Foods in Stuarts Draft.  Over the last 7 years, I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge while still holding down a full-time job.  In the spring of 2005, when we were expecting the birth of our son, Kathy and I decided it was time for me to leave the factory in order to pursue two greater goals.  First, we wanted to be able to raise our own son, and second, I wanted to have a job that I looked forward to each day.  So, in March of 2005, I purchased an Augusta County business license for Home Grown PC Repair, and in September, I left McKee Foods after nearly 7 years.  I then came home to spend time with my son as well as do something that I enjoyed.  My wife continues to teach 1st grade at Westwood Hills Elementary School in Waynesboro, where she has been for the last 6 years.

I have completed my college degree in Information Systems Technology specializing in Computer Networking.  During my education, I was trained in computer repairs and upgrades, Microsoft Office, networking, internet setup and configuration, and construction of new computers as well as many other areas like business, economics, and accounting.  I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.8.

In addition, I completed an internship with VITA (Virginia Information Technology Agency), which is responsible for the upkeep and oversight of all of the computer systems for the Commonwealth of Virginia.  My internship was done at Western State Hospital and C.C.C.A. in Staunton, VA, which has more than 600 PC's networked together.  This gave me an opportunity to work with a large number of people as well as a large number of computers on a network.
